Using Intraverbal.AI as a Behavior Analyst
One of the things I love most about being a behavior analyst is the problem-solving piece — breaking complex skills into teachable, meaningful steps. But sometimes, when you’re in the middle of supporting a family, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start, what to prioritize, and which resources will help you guide the process.
Recently, I started building a program to support a child with brushing teeth and feeding skills. I decided to test out Intraverbal.AI, a powerful new technology designed for behavior analysts, to see how it could help me structure my thinking.
Breaking Down the Steps With Technology
First, I asked Intraverbal.AI to walk me through the task analyses — what exactly needs to happen, step by step, for toothbrushing and for independent feeding.
Within seconds, I had clear, evidence-based breakdowns of each task. It listed every movement, from picking up the toothbrush to rinsing, and from scooping food with a spoon to successfully bringing it to the mouth. This saved me hours of prep time and gave me a strong foundation to start from.
Finding the Research as a Behavior Analyst
The next piece was making sure the strategies I wanted to use were backed by evidence. Intraverbal.AI helped me quickly locate journal articles and references related to teaching daily living skills, prompting hierarchies, and fading strategies.
Instead of spending hours digging through databases, I had the most relevant information ready to review. This made me feel confident that the program I was building wasn’t just practical — it was also grounded in the science of behavior analysis.
Reviewing With the Family
I then brought this information to a family session. We sat down together and looked at what was happening right now. Were we starting from full hand-over-hand support? Was the child able to initiate some parts independently? Where were the sticking points?
This baseline review with the family was crucial. It helped us see not just the challenges, but also the successes we could build from.
Building It Out Further
With the baseline in place, I was able to expand the program into something personalized and doable for that child and family. We identified clear starting steps, added reinforcement strategies, and made a plan for gradually fading prompts.
Here’s the honest part: a lot of this prep work: building templates, breaking down steps, digging into articles isn’t billable. That means as clinicians, we’re often doing this work behind the scenes because we know it’s needed. But once I have a solid template, I can adjust it for future clients instead of reinventing the wheel each time. It becomes a living resource I can refine, adapt, and use again and again.
Behind the Scenes of Being a Behavior Analyst
One of the realities of this work is that so much happens that families never see. Hours of reviewing research, writing task analyses, creating templates, and double-checking that what we put into practice is both ethical and effective. Most of this time is non-billable, and yet it’s often the backbone of progress.
The challenge is that sometimes this behind-the-scenes work gets skipped. Professionals may default to old strategies that aren’t backed by current evidence, or they may pull from habit instead of reviewing the research. While those approaches might still “work” in some cases, they don’t always ensure we’re using the simplest, most effective, and most compassionate tools available.
What families do see is a structured, individualized plan that feels thoughtful and tailored to their child. That’s the part I love most, when the extra effort pays off and a family feels supported and hopeful.
This is where technology like Intraverbal.AI makes a real difference. By streamlining the heavy lifting of step breakdowns and surfacing current, peer-reviewed research, it reduces the chance of falling back on outdated strategies. It frees me up to focus on collaborating with families, celebrating small wins, and adapting strategies in real time — while knowing the foundation is strong and up to date.
At Your Behaviour Gal, our work is about more than teaching skills, it’s about building independence, confidence, and connection in the daily routines that shape a person’s life. Whether it’s brushing teeth, feeding, or even sleep (a cornerstone of my practice), these everyday moments are where growth and progress truly take root.
Using technology like Intraverbal.AI helps me bridge the gap between research and practice more efficiently, so families don’t just get a plan — they get a plan that is compassionate, current, and tailored to their unique needs. And for me as a behavior analyst, that means I can spend more of my time where it matters most: supporting families, celebrating progress, and helping children move toward independence with joy and confidence.
